We’ve been on The All Stars tour for a few weeks now. An awesome tour with really amazing and diverse bands. One thing we learned very quickly while on this tour, is it brings very different kinds of people to the shows. Which is a great thing for all the bands to play for people they normally wouldn’t get a chance to play in front of.
One band in particular, Motionless In White, stands out from all the other bands in the fact that they dress in all black, wear make up, and paint their faces. This is how they choose to express themselves and how they want to showcase their band. Which if you know anything about The Ghost Inside, you know that we fully embrace individuality and being yourself. But some people in the crowd think they’re a joke. Condemning them with snide comments and hating on them for no other reason than the way look. When in reality, if most of the haters closed their eyes and listened to the music, would otherwise love it. Our question to them is, why does it matter?
MIW are some of the coolest, down to earth, and most fun guys we’ve ever toured with. Their music is great and they all have hearts of gold. If you’re not a fan of their music, totally fine. But if you don’t like them for how they look (or any band based on how they look for that matter), then you’re shutting yourself out to some great things.
Today we swapped clothing to have fun and to prove a point. If fans of The Ghost Inside saw us walk out all gothic, would it matter to them? Answer is absolutely not. Our set was wild, and so much fun.
I guess what we’re trying to get at is don’t judge a book by its cover. Give new/different things a chance and if they’re not for you, so be it. At least you made your judgement on what matters, and not on an image.
